about

Here's a song of lament, with a sort of folk-anthem style.

You may or may not be a big fan of the Bible. Okay. But either way, you might feel the relief that I do, to 'sing out your sadness.'

This song is a lament, written in the form of laments in the Bible. The Bible is full of them, and many laments start out: How long? It's about the position of faith, to understand that "this too shall pass," but sometimes that "this too" seems to last an unbearable amount of time.

Also like many laments in the Bible, it remembers that this is not the end of everything. There is some hope, in there, even though we might not feel like that, right now.

lyrics

"...This lonely city was once full of people
Now we stay at home
This lonely city was once full of people
But now all the elders have gone..."

"...We look to the one who is
We look to the one who was
We look to the one who is to come
How long, how long?"
